If you must leave

Agree a family meeting point everyone can reach. Keep fuel if you can, a spare wheel, and printed maps—GPS and apps may fail. Before leaving, shut water and gas, disconnect appliances, secure the home, take your backpack, wear practical layered clothing and sturdy shoes, and follow routes set by authorities. Travel in one car with your household to reduce separation.
